Visions & Dreams Of The Four Horsemen!

Joel 2:28-29 "It will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions. "Even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

Acts 2:16-18…but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel: 'AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,' God says, 'THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND; AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY, AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS; EVEN ON MY BONDSLAVES, BOTH MEN AND WOMEN, I WILL IN THOSE DAYS POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT And they shall prophesy.…

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD does nothing Unless He reveals His secret counsel To His servants the prophets.

God revealed to Noah the drowning of the old world by the flood; to Abraham the burning of Sodom and Gomorrah; and to the same servant and friend of his the affliction of his posterity four hundred years in a strange land, and then to be brought out with great substance; to Abijah the Shilonite the rending of ten tribes from the house of David; to Jeremiah the seventy years' captivity of the Jews in Babylon; to Daniel the four monarchies, the nature, rise, and fall of them; and to John, the disciple of Christ, all the material things that should come to pass, relating to the church and world, the second coming of Christ; which is the book revelation. ( Genesis 18:17 )

God revealed to the prophets so that they may inform the people; that, by repentance and conversion, they may avoid the evil, and, by walking closely with God, secure the continuance of his favor and eternal life

1Thess.5:19-22 Do not quench the Spirit; do not despise prophetic utterances. But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil.

The Prophetic Word from Holy Spirit during the 2008 Democratic race between Barak Obama and Hilary Clinton.

When I received this word from the Lord, Hillary Clinton was slightly ahead in the Democratic race.

“Barak Obama will win the democratic nomination and he will be the next president of the United States of America.”

I quickly said, “Lord, do you expect me to vote for a man who supports abortion and homosexuality?”

“Child I did not tell you to vote for him. I am telling you he will be the next president of the United States. Barak Obama is a fork tongued devil.”

“Your country has been pushing for abortions and homosexuality so I am giving you a president who will promote abortions and homosexuality. But be rest assured, My hand of judgement will come against your nation while he is president.”

Back in 2009, shortly after Obama had taken office I was shown satan entering into him. Then a short time after that, I saw Obama come up out of the water three times, and three times I saw a dragon with the word ANTICHRIST written underneath. Then I heard a voice behind me say, “Now do you understand?”Bette and her husband John are founders of Victorious Vision Ministries International. They were in a local church for almost twenty-five years until the Lord called them into ministry as Pastors in 2010.
Rev.12:3b “…behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven diadems.”

Melisa Peggs: Obama Signs Seven-Year Peace Treaty

In 2008 Melisa Peggs received a dream in which she saw a tall slender man standing in the pulpit of a church. At first she was not able to see his face because he was standing with his back to her. She heard the Lord tell her, “The antichrist spirit has arrived.”Then she saw the man in the pulpit turn around and it was Obama. She then heard a voice tell her, “That is the antichrist.” She shares more details about this dream in the video below.

In the years since she received that dream she heard people saying Obama is only a forerunner to the antichrist. She heard different reasons why he could not possibly be the antichrist. So about six months ago, she went to the Lord and asked, “Is this true? Is Obama the antichrist? I need you to confirm this to me.”
So she went to bed that night and had the following dream.

Obama was in this dark room. A light was behind him and shone down on his head and on the desk in front of him. He was holding a pen and there were papers, like a document, in front of him. I went over by him and looked over his shoulder at the document. It said, “Seven Year Peace Treaty,” and he was signing it.

Daniel 9:27
“And he shall enter into a strong and firm covenant with the many for one week [seven years]. And in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and offering to cease [for the remaining three and one-half years]; and upon the wing or pinnacle of abominations [shall come] one who makes desolate, until the full determined end is poured out on the desolator.”

The prophet Daniel revealed the antichrist would make a seven-year covenant with many people, which in modern language would be called a treaty between nations (Daniel 9:27). So Melisa understood the Lord was confirming to her that Obama is the antichrist.
Melisa then posted this comment on her YouTube page regarding the video she had made. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lsU7Wrq4ek

I just want to let you all know the enemy did not want me making this video. I was trying to charge my iPad and my puppy chewed through the cord. I went to my bedroom to get my back up charger only to find the bedroom door shut and locked. After I made the video, my physical body was attacked and my back went out. I have been in pain since the making of the video.

James Bailey is an author, business owner, husband and father of two children. His vision is to broadcast the good news of Jesus Christ through blog sites and other media outlets

When people ask James about the identity of the antichrist he will gladly offer them a few points to consider. However, he is not interested in getting into a debate on this topic with anyone because it is a waste of time.

So if someone wants to debate, he just breaks off the conversation by encouraging them to do what he did. He tell them to ask the Lord about it.
He was so amazed by what God showed him, it took six months before he would even discuss it with anyone. James shared that testimony in his previous post, Obama Taking Action Against the Strongest of Fortresses.

He was only willing to start sharing it after God confirmed it to him again and again. As soon as he started sharing it God gave him dream confirming it. James started getting so many confirmations that he started saving them in a list. His list is now close to one hundred confirmations and still growing.

Recently he received another confirmation from a visitor to this site, Jolie Lox. She shared the following revelation she recently received from the Lord.

I’ve been reading and looking into all these posts and others about Obama being the antichrist I am not one too often have prophetic dreams or visions. I’ve had a few in my life, but God more often communicates to me directly through His Word and through the still, small voice.

I went to bed the other night praying that God would give me a dream to confirm for me if Obama is indeed the antichrist. I didn’t sleep well that night and woke up several times (because of allergies). And every time I woke up, I asked the Lord if Obama is the antichrist.

I love and hold onto the verse in Isaiah 65:24, “Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.” Often when God speaks to me, I know it’s Him because He answers me before I’m even done wording my question or statement. He’s told me many things like this – either while I’m praying, or even while I’m talking with someone else.

Anyway, each time I asked him in the night about the antichrist, he told me “Yes,” that it’s Obama. Before I even finished asking, He’d answer me, “Yes, Jolie.”
And eventually, to make sure, I told Him, “I’m asking for an answer.”
And He responded back, “And I’m giving You an answer.”

So I trust the Lord Jesus and His answer. May God fully prepare us for everything the future holds, and let us be found pleasing and holy before Him. May our robes be white and spotless, and may we have our wicks trimmed and have enough oil in our lamps -like the 5 wise virgins (Matt. 25).

James believed that anyone who goes to the Lord humbly, not thinking they already have it all figured out, will receive revelation from him that might surprise them.

On the May 7 2015 broadcast of Trunews.com, Rick Wiles shared a prophetic dream received by a four year-old orphan girl from the Amazon jungles of Ecuador. This little girl, whose name is Mia, was being taken care of by the ministry of Bless An Orphan, which was founded by Karissa and Marshall Washburn.

She told her caretaker, Karissa Washburn, she saw a fire mountain and fire water coming out of the mountain, which sounds like a volcano. Then she saw four bad men riding on horses coming out of the fire mountain. Then they gathered up the people and did mean things to them. The people cried and screamed for help, but Jesus turned and looked the other way.

How would a four-year old orphan girl from the Amazon jungle know these things? I believe the only explanation is this dream was from the Lord.
This four-year old girl revealed a side of God’s character that is rarely taught in our churches. When was the last time we heard anyone describing Jesus as someone who looks the other way when people are crying and screaming? We don’t talk about that side of him, but the Bible does.

Therefore will I also deal in wrath; mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them. (Ezekiel 8:18)

We hear all about his kindness, but almost never about his severity, but the Bible reveals he is both.

Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness toward you, provided you continue in his kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off. (Romans 11:22)

The popular view of the Lord is grace, grace, and more grace, no matter what we do. But the truth is there are limits to the grace of God and the number of chances we are given to repent. Mia saw what many of us have failed to see. The Lord is to be feared, not taken for granted.

We have to go through life through this six seals in the book of revelation:1st seal - a white horse! And its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer. Rev 6:2
2nd seal - another horse, bright red. Its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and he was given a great sword. Rev 6:4
3rd seal - a black horse! And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand… “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and do not harm the oil and wine!” Rev 6:6
4th seal - a pale horse! And its rider's name was Death, and Hades followed him… over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth. Rev 6:8
5th seal - the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne… a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed Rev 6:11
(35 Women received back their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life. 36 Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. 37 They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated— 38 of whom the world was not worthy—wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.) Heb 11:35-38
6th seal - there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, 13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. 14 The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up… Rev 6:12-14
“And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.” Dan 9:27

The Rider on the White Horse is Now Riding Across America BY JAMES BAILEY
Jesus repeatedly warned his followers to be on the alert because false messiahs would come in his name (Matthew 24:5, 24, 42-43,25:13, Mark 13:33). He expected them to watch and discern the signs of the times. He rebuked those who could not (Matthew 16:2-3).

The Apostle John warned a counterfeit messiah would appear in the last days as a rider on a white horse. He would carry a bow and a crown would be given to him. Immediately upon receiving the crown he would go forth conquering and to conquer (Revelation 6:1-2).

So we have been warned. Now the hour has come. The false messiah is here. The rider on the white horse is now riding across our nation. America, the land that we love, that our forefathers fought for, the strongest nation on earth, has been handed over to him without a fight.

Where are the watchmen? Where are the alarms? They are silent. The only sound is the sound of the horse’s huffs hitting the ground as the rider rides on.
Instead of sounding the alarm many of God’s people are actually embracing him, celebrating his arrival, and calling him a blessing from God. This is the spiritual blindness of America.

This is not the time to celebrate. The rider is not a blessing from God. He is from hell. He is the spirit of antichrist. He has come to steal our wealth, kill our children, and destroy our land.

Of course, no one would allow him to come if they knew what was happening, but they don’t know because he cloaks himself in darkness. He advances unseen, except by those who are fully awake, watching for him, on the alert. But there are so few watching. Most are sound asleep, unaware of his actions. Before they realize what is happening it is too late.
We know about the latest movies, the latest television programs, the latest sports events, the latest celebrity gossip, the latest church programs, but most know nothing about this rider. What rider? What white horse? What are you talking about? Are you crazy?

So he rides on with no resistance.
There is at least one man who knows about this rider. John W. Johnstone has been seeing him for years. He saw him enter America in the spring of 2005.

“In February of 2004 I was with a large group of people and we were praying. All of a sudden I started to see and hear hoofs of a huge horse riding toward America. Every time the hooves of the horse hit the ground the whole earth shook. I asked God what this meant and He said, “This is the white horse I showed you back in 1986. It is on its way to America with a bow and a crown conquering with conquest the hearts, minds, bodies, spirits and souls of men. Just as you see the outer bands of a hurricane when it approaches land, then the hurricane makes its direct hit on the land. The white horse will have outer bands before he rides into the American heartland.”

The white horse arrived in America in the spring of 2005. I was fishing at Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach one afternoon when something huge slammed up against my shoulder and knocked me sideways. I thought it was another fisherman that knocked into me but I looked up to see the white horse and rider. The rider was a devil wearing white and had two black holes for eyes. The rider wanted to make sure that I knew he was here now. I was in a state of total shock as I saw this and then he smiled and went on about his business.
God then said, “See, I told you so.”

The Spirit of Antichrist has been patrolling the world to conquer the hearts, minds, spirits, and souls of a whole generation of people! The moral decline of society is increasing rapidly. The decline of morals is directly related to the elimination of God from our lives and a shifting to false religions.

God told me that every time the hooves of the horse hit the ground they shake the foundation of the Church and of all the Christians. Every time the foundation is shaken if the Christians do not have the full armor of the Lord they are not protected. As you just read inEphesians 6:16, the fiery darts are the arrows from the bow of the rider of the white horse. If the Church does not have on the full armor of the Lord right now, in this hour, then the spirit of antichrist is going to destroy many of the people. This is what will cause the great falling away. (2 Thessalonians 2:3).

Every time the white horse comes into contact with a Christian he shoots his arrow (fiery dart) with his bow to disable or destroy them spiritually. According to how filled with the Holy Spirit you are will determine how well you will be able to fight and stand in the hour of testing.

The carnal Christians are especially vulnerable to the attacks of the white horse. Any one who has not repented of their sinful carnal nature will be destroyed by this horse. Any Christian that has fallen into deceptive doctrines of demons will be destroyed by this horse. You must be filled with the Holy Spirit and pray for the full armor of God!
God also uses the white horse to execute His judgment on the wicked nations. When you see a nation rising up and threatening war, this is the white horse. When you see nations taken and subdued and conquered by other nations, this is the white horse.

It is no coincidence that he comes riding on a white horse. He purposely takes on the imagery of the Lord Jesus Christ of whom it is written that He will return to the earth riding on a white horse (Revelation 19:14). This imposter comes ahead of the true messiah attempting to steal the glory that rightly belongs to another. He masquerades in the pomp and majesty of the white horse, a symbol of conquest, arrogantly presenting himself as the messiah, the savior of the world, but he is a liar and a deceiver.

He comes to receive a crown, to rule over a nation, but that is only a stepping-stone toward his ultimate goal of ruling over the world and being worshiped by the world. With this in mind, he seeks not just any crown, but the world’s most powerful crown, the Presidency of the United States.

This is no small feat. Not just anyone can become President. So he comes prepared to fight for it, equipped with a bow to launch fiery darts into the minds and hearts of his opponents in the form of lies, threats, and bribes. He continues his conquest until all voices of opposition are silenced, until there is no one left standing in his way.

An assignment of this magnitude takes some time to complete. He cannot just not show up one day and receive his crown the next day.
As John W. Johnstone saw, the rider advances like a massive storm system, like a hurricane whose impact is felt little by little as the outer bands precede the eye of the storm. He saw the rider’s arrival in the United States in the spring of 2005, which was three and a half years prior to next Presidential election in November 2008. Amazingly, three and a half years is the same amount of time that the antichrist will be given authority to rule over the earth, but that comes later. It is amazing that his initial assignment in pursuit of his first crown lasts exactly the same amount of time as his final assignment when he rules over the world (Revelation 13:5, Daniel 12:7,11).

Mena Lee Grebin received a dream from the Lord revealing the assignment of the rider on the red horse is now being fulfilled by Barack Hussein Obama. Mena is a Prophetess with Faithful Walk Healing Ministries. I believe her dream provides further evidence that Obama is the son of perdition. Mena shared the details of her dream in an interview on Trunews.com on May 7 2015.

In April 2008 I had been living in Charlotte NC for about seven or eight months. The democratic primaries were going on at that time. Obama and Hillary were the two main candidates.

That night I had a dream in which I was driving my mother’s red Beetle. I was turning onto the freeway while speaking on the phone talking with a friend. My friend asked me, “So what do you think about the new President?”
I said, “What do you mean?”
She said, “Obama won! What are your feelings about that?”

I quoted the verse where the second seal was opened. I said, “A red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him (Revelation 6:4).”

Then the scene changed and I was looking at all of these old fashioned televisions all around the world. They were showing that Obama had been elected President. The programs were in all different languages, but specifically I saw Arabic. I saw people cheering all over the world that Obama had won. I saw the Arabs and the Muslims with their faces covered. They had guns and were shooting them off into the sky and cheering the he had won.
That was the end of the dream.

Then Mena called her mom and said, “Obama is not only going to win the primary. He is going to win the election mama. And the Lord is showing me Obama is going to be responsible for taking peace from the earth, causing war.”

What if you are surrounded by ISIS and kneeling before the executioner with a great sword, demanded you to denied Christ and proclaimed that allah is your only god…what is your reaction?
You may say, “I will deny Christ and later I will confess my sins and I will be forgiven.” I doubt you will be safe in this last hour of testing.

Therefore will I also deal in wrath; mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them. (Ezekiel 8:18)
Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness toward you, provided you continue in his kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off. (Romans 11:22)

What should I do? Prepare to let your head be rolling on the floor rather than spent your eternity in hell. The moment they chop off your head, in split second, you are ushering to heaven. It is easier to say than done, yes it is never be easy. I admit that I am not able to stand against this trial but I believe grace will be meted out to me not because I am worthy, is because I consumed the spiritual food every day that came down from heaven.
Jesus says, “It is written, that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” Luk 4:4

Think about it: "BREAD" stands for physical FOOD. Jesus is simply saying that mankind needs more than physical food alone to live. Man shall not only live by physical things alone; the spiritual is even more important.

What is this spiritual food? “This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents. 17 And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less. 18 And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.” Exo 16:16-18

Psa.78:24-25a “God rained down manna upon them (Israel) to eat and gave them food from heaven. Man did eat the bread of angels…”

God daily recommendation of angel food (manna) per individual is an omer (a large bowlful of spiritual food). Christian should take the manna (The Word) as much as it required. The Israelites could not store the manna overnight, as it would breed worms (Exo.16:19-20). God made sure they went out every day for their manna to teach us we need to meditate upon the Word fresh every day according to your needs.

A hearty feeding on God's Word over the Sunday Worship, for example, is simply not enough to last the whole week. The very next day, and each day thereafter, we must gather fresh manna and eat it.

Twelve Christians have been brutally executed by the Islamic State, including the 12-year-old son of a Syrian ministry team leader who had planted nine churches, because they refused to renounce the name of Jesus Christ and embrace Islam. The martyrs were faithful to the very end; right before one woman was beheaded by the terror group, she appeared to be smiling slightly as she whispered, “Jesus!”Read more at http://www.wnd.com/2015/10/12-christians-executed-by-isis-refused-to-renounce-christ/#dasy3YPDbmmLA7Sa.99

The Word of God is also likened to food in Psalm 119:103 “How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!”  The same symbol occurs again in Jeremiah 15:16 “Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart…”

The prophet Ezekiel and the apostle John are each shown too in Scripture as" eating" a book (Ezek. 3:1-3; Rev. 10:9, 10). We have here a picture of men assimilating and digesting the Word of God. Food gives us strength. Our bodies cannot be built up without it. A person who is under-nourished will be skinny and weak,  therefore unable to resist disease. He will also be unable to defend himself if physically assaulted by another. A small push will often be enough to knock him down.

In exactly the same way, one who neglects the Word of God will be spiritually under-developed, and consequently unable to resist temptation and to withstand the Devil's onslaughts. Only those who regularly meditate on God's Word grow into full armor of God (1 John 2:14). Mere reading of the Bible will not make you strong, but meditation upon it allows the Word to penetrate into the very core of your being and thus to become a part of you, hidden in your heart

Psa. 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”).

Job said that he esteemed the words of God even more than his necessary daily food (Job 23:12, Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food).

By listening to God daily he built up a tremendous reserve of spiritual strength. This, no doubt, accounts for the man's remarkable resilience in the face of Satan's fierce assaults. He did not lose his faith in God, in spite of all the adversity he faced. His wife, who obviously did not have the same regard for God's Word as her husband, was ready to curse God as soon as calamity struck. Not so Job. His example gives us an idea of the tremendous strength that God's Word, if received daily, can give us to face every trial in life, even death.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” Psa.116:15

2Co 4:16-18 “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.  For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. “

Stephen the first martyr
Act 6:5 …Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost…
Act 6:9-10…the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake
Act 7:54-60 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.
55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,
58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.
59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

Persecution In The Early Church
Heb 11:35-38 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

We are living in the last day and are no exception of being martyr or being persecuted
Are You Ready?

Therefore will I also deal in wrath; mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them. (Ezekiel 8:18)
Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness toward you, provided you continue in his kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off. (Romans 11:22)

Acts 7:56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

Serious Deception of Falling in the Spirit!

Serious Deception of Falling in the Spirit by Prof. Johan Malan, South Africa

The phenomenon of falling (being slain) in the Spirit is an unbiblical practice which surfaced in the charismatic movement for the first time during the second half of the 20th century. Since then it has spread all over the world and become an instrument in the hands of the devil to establish a false kind of mystical spirituality in the lives of millions of people. This practice still continues, and it is imperative that young believers should be warned against its dangers.

Falling in the Spirit (or slain in the Spirit) was originally popularized by preachers such as Kathryn Kuhlman, Kenneth Hagin and William Branham, who were later followed by Gordon Lindsay, Jim Spilman, Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinn, Rodney Howard Browne, Reinhardt Bonke and others.

Since then, the movement has spread widely and been accepted by many Pentecostal churches. The pastors who have the ability to bring about falling in the Spirit are regarded by their followers as specially anointed men of God who function on a higher level than ordinary pastors. For many of them, this manifestation of supernatural power brought instant fame and wealth.

The prophecy of Joel 2:28 is generally applied to falling in the Spirit. It is alleged that this is the Holy Spirit’s special way of manifesting Himself in the last days, and for that reason it was unknown to earlier generations. Critics of the movement are warned that they should not resist the work of the Spirit – that is why many of them hesitate to even apply a basic scriptural test to this strange phenomenon.

Forms of falling in the Spirit

This ‘touch of power’ can be bestowed upon individuals or large groups. The persons are usually prayed for, sometimes they are blown upon, or they may be pushed over or only touched; the preacher may sweep his hand or merely snap his fingers, after which the person(s) will fall down backwards. When it only happens to one person at a time, an assistant will catch the falling person and lay him or her down on the floor. Towels are often used to cover the legs of women who have fainted and fallen backwards after being slain in the Spirit.

But there is also a chaotic way of falling in the Spirit which happens to a whole audience, or part of it. When certain words are uttered by the preacher, or when he sweeps his hand, the entire group of people will fall over backwards and cause a chaotic situation. Chairs are pushed over or displaced and people are falling on each other. Some of them bump against the chairs or pews and may even sustain serious bruises or cuts for which medical treatment might be needed. Groans, babbling, laughter and other strange noises intermingle to underscore the chaos.

Experiences during falling in the Spirit

An investigation of this phenomenon has revealed that those who have fallen down all experienced a certain degree of absence of their mind. They may be placed in the following three categories:

Firstly, there are those who almost immediately recover again. They had no desire to fall, but were pushed over by other people and yielded to group pressure by falling down. They do not have any specific experience while lying on the floor.

Secondly, there are those who lie down for 10 to 15 minutes. They go off in a light trance during which they are still conscious of voices around them. They have nice feelings of peace and joy which they describe as the presence of God. They are convinced that these feelings originated from a spiritual realm outside their bodies.

Thirdly, there are those who remain in a trance for up to six hours. During this time they are not conscious of anything. Many of them attach great significance to the length of their trance since they are under the impression that God conducts His work of inner healing during this time. Benny Hinn calls it “God’s operation table.” The ‘inner healing’ is done while the person is unconscious and is therefore not dependent upon repentance or the confession of sins.

Significance of falling in the Spirit

The significance of this experience is described in various ways. The view is held that this is an overwhelming experience of God’s power and glory. Human beings cannot resist it and fall down unconscious when a current of this power flows through them. Kathryn Kuhlman said: “All I can believe is that our spiritual beings are not wired for God’s full power and when we plug into that power we just cannot survive it.” They are strongly convinced that they are spiritually uplifted by it, of which there is no concrete evidence.

In certain groups falling in the Spirit is equated with salvation since unsaved people are also stricken by it. Ezra Coppin said: “I have seen many people so slain who were not Christians, and the experience had the fabulously glorious result of making believers out of them! They rose to a new life.”

The view is also held that falling in the Spirit is an initiation to holiness for beginners. Such people were spiritually immature and need an experience of this nature to get going. Morton Kelsey said: “An experience of going down under the power may give just the push that is needed to start an individual – like a car with a dead battery – moving towards growth in the Spirit.”

Apart from the general need for spiritual growth, falling in the Spirit is also associated with a baptizing or anointing with the Holy Spirit. In this way, gifts are imparted to believers. Various manifestations and gifts of the Spirit may follow this experience. It is also said that during these times the Lord Jesus appears to believers to make promises to them or to give specific commands.

New manifestations

Various other phenomena, such as laughing in the spirit, prophesying in the spirit and dancing in the spirit, which result from falling in the Spirit, are also attributed to the Holy Spirit. Many people blindly accept these phenomena without testing the spirits, despite the danger of spurious satanic imitation in such manifestations.

Most of the Word of Faith preachers create strong expectations of powerful manifestations of the Holy Spirit. However, there is no scriptural basis for the signs that allegedly occur at their meetings. Apart from the signs already mentioned, one of the more recent phenomena is the so-called “New Wine” meetings where people stagger like drunks. This is accompanied by falling, dancing and laughing in the spirit, also pogo stick jumping and making a wide range of animal noises such as barking like dogs, bleating like sheep, crowing like roosters and roaring like lions.

Physical symptoms that accompany these experiences are severe shaking, electric-like surges, the loss of physical strength, labored breathing, fluttering eyelids, trembling lips, the seeming appearance of oil or gold dust on parts of the body, uncontrolled laughter, a feeling of drunkenness, nausea, vomiting, complete disorientation, mystical visions, audible voices from the spirit world, the absence of pain, a feeling of weightlessness which makes you jump up and down, a feeling of heaviness which causes a person to reel to and fro and fall down on the floor, shouting and the making of various animal noises.

Some of these manifestations also occur at the services of TB Joshua in Lagos, Nigeria. One of them is vomiting in the Spirit. He teaches that the evil and spiritual impurities hide in a person’s stomach, and that vomiting during a service can remove it. Some of the objects that come out resemble pieces of stone, shells, worms and blood.

A very common manifestation of the anointing associated with falling in the Spirit is the ability to prophesy in the Spirit. Such people claim that God speaks to them directly, not through His written Word, and that they conduct dialogue with one another on various matters. It is very obvious that these people entertain a serious misconception about God speaking to them as they merely project their own thoughts in the second person to God and then mistake it to be His voice. They often distort biblical truths and always have personal messages from the Lord to other people. Because they elevate themselves to a level where God speaks to them personally, they do not have a teachable spirit to heed other people’s Bible-based correction of their views. They also attach great significance to other extra-biblical experiences such as dreams, visions, and angels who appear to them. It is obvious that they are caught up in a strange reality which has been created by their own imagination. Deceiving spirits may also play a role in deluding them to believe what they do.

There are many examples of self-appointed prophets who proclaim false prophecies derived from unbiblical sources. The Berean Call of November 2006 says: “There are so many false prophets on radio and TV (most of them on TBN) that we couldn’t begin to name them all. The most popular today is Benny Hinn... His false prophecies are too many to recite. One is enough: On December 31, 1989, claiming that he was in the very throne room of God, Hinn declared: ‘The Lord also tells me about ’94 or ’95, no later than that, God will destroy the homosexual community of America by fire.’ It didn’t happen. Yet the more false prophecies he utters, the larger Hinn’s following grows and the louder do Paul Crouch and his TBN dupes praise him.” Benny Hinn is a big supporter and practitioner of falling in the Spirit.

Evaluation

The following discussion and evaluation of falling in the Spirit was done by Rev. Denzel Dick of South Africa:

The only true test for falling in the Spirit is God’s Word. The common argument that, in terms of the prophecies of Joel, God is doing something new, amounts to reading meanings into Scripture which were never implied by it. In this way, the devil can give any new experience to open, naive people who will accept it without testing the spirits. Paul says, “Beware lest anyone should cheat you through... empty deceit” (Col. 2:8).
During falling in the Spirit in meetings people always fall backward to have a positive experience with the Holy Spirit. The Bible, however, mentions four instances where people fell down backward as examples of God’s judgment and rejection because of their infidelity and sin:

1. “Dan shall be a serpent by the way, a viper by the path, that bites the horse’s heels so that its rider shall fall backward” (Gen. 49:17).

2. “Then it happened... that Eli fell off the seat backward by the side of the gate; and his neck was broken and he died” (1 Sam. 4:18).

3. “But the word of the Lord was to them, precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little, that they might go and fall backward, and be broken and snared and caught” (Isa. 28:13).

4. “Then – when He said to them, I am He – they drew back and fell to the ground” (John 18:6).

John 18:6 is commonly used by supporters of falling in the Spirit. However, the following needs to be said about this practice from a biblical point of view:

Firstly, the people who allegedly fell in the Spirit in John 18:6 were the enemies of Christ, including Judas Iscariot.

Secondly, the falling backward was not a condition of unconsciousness or fainting. It was rather a reaction of shock by lost people after meeting the Lord. John 18:6 can, therefore, not be used as justification for the present practice of falling in the Spirit, because it clearly suggests that those who fell down were lost sinners.

Thirdly, in the Bible people fell forward on their knees or face. Every time when that happened (about 30 times) the results were good and profitable.

The following Scriptures are used in defense of falling in the Spirit: Gen. 17:3; Num. 16:4; 24:4; Lev. 9:24; Jos. 5:14; Jud. 13:20; 1 Kings 18:39; 1 Chron. 21:16; Ezek. 1:28; 2:1-2; 3:23; 43:4; 44:4; Dan. 8:17; 10:9; Matt. 2:11; 17:6; 28:1-4; Mark 5:33; Luke 5:8; 8:47; 17:16; Acts 9:4 or 26:14; 16:29; 1 Cor. 14:25; 2 Cor. 12:2-4; Rev. 1:17; 4:10; 5:8; 19:4.

Although supporters of falling in the Spirit use these scriptures to justify their practice, the contrary is true. These verses explicitly refer to a falling forward on the knees or face. That was mostly a conscious act: “Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him” (Gen. 17:3).
It was also a traditional way of greeting and a form of showing respect when people bowed down before their king, or slaves subjected themselves to their lords. It was also a sign of humbling and showing respect and fear to a holy God – cf. Peter who fell down at the knees of Jesus (Luke 5:8), Paul’s conversion in Acts 9:4, and John humbling himself on Patmos when he fell down at the feet of Jesus (Rev. 1:17).

In ancient times it was the most natural thing to fall on your knees or face to take on a position of prayer or honoring someone. It was in no way associated with fainting or incoherent talk. In Matt. 2:11, the wise men “fell down and worshipped [the Child]”. 1 Cor. 14:25 refers to a member of a congregation, “falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among [us].”

The reason for the falling down was not, as some people say, that the person was stricken down by the Spirit of God. The Bible never says that the Holy Spirit struck people down. They fell because of one the following human reactions:

Fear (Num. 16:4; Jos. 5:14; Jud. 13:20; Dan. 8:17; 10:9; Matt. 17:6; 28:1-4; Luke 8:47; Acts 9:4).
Joy and thanksgiving for blessings (Lev. 9:24; Matt. 2:11; Mark 5:33; Luke 17:16).
Honor, humbling and worship in the presence of God (1 Kings 18:39; 1 Chron. 21:16; Ezek. 1:28; 2:1-2; 3:23; 43:4; 44:4; Luke 5:8; 1 Cor. 14:25; Rev. 1:17; 4:10, 5:8; 19:4).

The Spirit of God rather set people on their feet than striking them down. When people have fallen down because of one of the reactions mentioned above, it is often said that the Spirit of God raises them to stand upright. Ezekiel says, “...the glory of the Lord stood there... and I fell on my face. Then the Spirit entered me and set me on my feet” (Ezek. 3:23-24).

Even the falling forward gets little Scriptural support or encouragement because God, Jesus or an angel often tells people to stand up (Ezek. 2:1-2; 43:3; Dan. 8:17-18; 10:9-10; Matt. 17:6-7). In Matt. 17:7 Jesus said to His disciples who fell on their faces because of fear: “Arise, and do not be afraid.” The Holy Spirit is rather associated with the act of rising than with falling.

There is indeed a spirit that makes people fall down, but that is not the Spirit of God – that is an evil spirit. There are various examples of this in the Bible. Mark says, “For [Jesus] healed many, so that as many as had afflictions pressed about Him to touch Him. And the unclean spirits, whenever they saw Him, fell down before Him and cried...” (Mark 3:10-11). In another case a boy with a mute spirit was brought to Jesus, “and wherever [the spirit] seizes him, he throws him down... Then they brought him to [Jesus]. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and he wallowed” (Mark 9:18,20). After Jesus rebuked the spirit and commanded him to leave He assisted the boy to get up: “Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose” (Mark. 9:27). A case has also been recorded in Capernaum where Jesus delivered a man who was possessed by an unclean spirit: “Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be quiet and come out of him! And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him” (Luke 4:35).

The supporters of falling in the Spirit also have a big problem to prove from the Bible that this experience may be linked to a baptizing (or anointing) with the Holy Spirit. Except for cases where people had problems with demons and fell down during the process of deliverance, there is no relationship in the Bible between healing or anointing with the Spirit and falling in the Spirit. The supporters of this strange experience have a double problem: firstly, to find a similar phenomenon in the Bible, and secondly, to connect this experience to baptizing with the Holy Spirit.

Easy salvation

The normal way in which God deals with sinners – i.e. through repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus – is brushed aside and substituted by a strange experience such as falling in the Spirit. In this way, biblical truths are ignored or wrongly applied. In this way salvation is made easier and cheaper, i.e. without repentance and counting the cost by those involved.

Falling in the Spirit is used as a crush-pen for salvation through which people are forced or manipulated; consequently, they are not confronted with a choice whether they wish to repent or not. The experience of falling in the Spirit replaces a conscious decision that sinners must make when they are convicted of their sins. Suddenly, they find themselves in a mystical trance. After recovering their consciousness, they regard themselves as believers who were changed by the power of God.
Because of this way of dealing with lost people, preaching the gospel of salvation has virtually become redundant – unbelievers only need to fall in the Spirit. But the problem is that such people’s lives are not built upon the foundation of Christ but upon a mystical experience. In this way, the biblical message of repentance is bypassed. That is one of the reasons why preaching on sin has become such a rare feature of modern evangelization.

It obviously does not trouble the leaders of this movement that the basis of salvation through falling in the Spirit is unbiblical. Coppin says, “Even if there were no biblical basis for the phenomenon, it might be contended that since many are strengthened through the experience, it is worth entertaining.” The general approach is: “Be open to new ways in which God by His Spirit may be speaking to the Church.”
The distorted view that unsaved people, who are still in bondage of sin, may have certain experiences with the Holy Spirit is completely foreign to Scripture. The biblical way of salvation is that the Holy Spirit first convicts people of their sins. Only after they have confessed and forsaken their sins and put their trust in the Lord Jesus to save their souls by virtue of His work of atonement on the cross, are they regenerated by the Holy Spirit who will then establish His presence in these persons’ hearts.

After the experience of being born again they must continuously be filled with the Spirit.
It also does not make any sense that people can have many experiences of falling in the Spirit. Some people refer to the new experiences as a recharge. It is obvious that a deeply-rooted discontentment and opportunism lies at the basis of falling in the Spirit. Sinners are looking for an easy and physically tangible way to become Christians without really changing their lifestyles. Many Christians are not content with the normal views about spiritual growth and are looking for extraordinary experiences in their spiritual lives. They want to be baptized in the Spirit in one dramatic moment and also obtain special gifts to enhance their boring lives. This approach opens the way to various forms of deception.

In this way, the door is opened to the sensual and the spectacular, thereby enthroning the flesh. A humanistic self-image is stimulated which may have an outward appearance of the person being Christian, but in reality he/she has no inclination towards true spirituality. The new gifts and strange manifestations are used to glorify the self, and are practiced for entertainment rather than the promotion and extension of God’s kingdom on earth.

The Holy Spirit warned us that in the last days the devil will succeed in even seducing believers to accept wrong doctrines which are propagated by deceiving spirits: “Now the Spirit expressly says that in the latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons” (1 Tim. 4:1). John says, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1).
